Ali Gharavi

Ali Gharavi, M.D., is the Principal Investigator of Project One . He is the Jay Meltzer Professor of Nephrology and Hypertension and serves as Chief of the Division of Nephrology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He is also Director of the Center for Precision Medicine and Genomics in the Department of Medicine at Columbia University. His research has identified genes and risk loci for many kidney diseases, and has demonstrated the utility of sequencing for the diagnosis and management of patients with nephropathy and urologic disorders. He is extending this work to other constitutional disorders in adults and his ultimate goal is to bring personalized genomic medicine from the laboratory into patient care. He was elected to the American Society of Clinical Investigation and the American Association of Physicians.
